In the end, it’s up to you to figure out what will motivate you and keep that fitness motivation going. It is well known that having too much body fat and living a sedentary lifestyle can have dire consequences. In truth, it’s one of those things that you just think will never happen to you until it does.
It can and will if you don’t take action now. Weight loss involves a few aspects, such as eating better foods, avoiding junk foods, and exercising a lot. The motivation to lose weight often begins with exercise for many people, believe it or not. Why is that? Because exercise makes us happy: literally our bodies generate endorphins that make us feel happy and a fitness lifestyle is a sure and sustainable way to increase the level of enjoyment and happiness in your life.
If you get past the idea that exercising is just getting in the car and going to the gym, you can begin to see what I mean. Imagine how much fun you would have taking a dancing class if you enjoy dancing. This is an effective way to lose weight that most people are unaware of!
If you enjoy being outside, you can get some exercise by riding your bike or walking your dog. Hiking or playing beach volleyball on a nice day by the ocean are amazing ways to get some of those calories burned plus recharge with natural vitamin D under the sun. If you realize that exercise isn’t a chore, but rather a form of physical activity that you can actually enjoy, you’ll see that motivation may not be as hard to find.
Find a friend to exercise with who has the same interest as you. This will help keep you motivated. As simple as taking a class together, joining a gym, or going for a walk, having a buddy can make all the difference.
There are a few reasons why this is the case. When you start working out with a friend, you will feel a certain amount of peer pressure. There’s nothing worse than letting down a friend, especially when you know they count on you. If you include your friend in your workout plans, you’ll also make it more of a social event than an ‘exercise’ session. No one wants to miss out on the chance to socialize and in the process, you will help each other to achieve your beach body goals!
It’s a good idea not to put too much pressure on yourself though by setting an unrealistic deadline. When planning for a wedding, or when going on vacation, don’t wait until just a few weeks before. If you do, you’ll just set yourself up for failure. Getting to your goal will be virtually impossible, and once the event is over, you’ll probably stop exercising. A fitness lifestyle is an everyday thing and you’ll have to stick with it forever. It might sound daunting, but think of it as being happy for the rest of your life, wouldn’t you want that?
