The Sunset Healing Collective is a collaborative practice of holistic healers who are on a mission to help shift the modern-medicine paradigm from conventional, pharmaceutical interventions to more holistic, natural, and integrative approaches. We want to transform the consciousness around health and wellness and make seemingly “fringe” therapies more mainstream and accessible to a wider population of people.
Many of us do our work around the Hudson Valley; at holistic healing retreats, private venues, and yoga studios; but the Sunset Healing Collective, located in New Paltz, NY, offers a central venue to integrate a variety of services. We offer acupuncture, bodywork, reiki, breathwork, sound healing, qi gong, yoga, doula services, meditation practices, ceremonies, workshops, and education.
We offer therapeutic experiences, resources, and opportunities to help you fully integrate your body, mind, and spirit.
The healers and practitioners of the Sunset Healing Collective come from a variety of unique backgrounds, but we all have something in common: we are out-of-the-box thinkers and we work as much from our hearts as we do our minds and years of real-world experience. Many of us have been in our respective fields for decades and bring a level of expertise that is unparalleled.
We believe we can shift the demand and consciousness around where one goes for healing; not the doctor’s office, but rather a holistic healing environment that enlivens you in body, mind, and spirit. Many patients and clients have landed on our doorstep when everything else has failed, and we would like to change that to being first-stop and top-of-mind.
The ancient arts, traditional medicines, and natural healing modalities provide excellent solutions to a myriad of modern-day health problems that the conventional medical paradigm is incapable of addressing. We believe it takes a lot more than a magic pill to resolve most health issues.
We seek to offer holistic solutions so that our patients and clients can discover new ways of living so that they can restore their bodies to a natural state of health.
At the most fundamental level, everything is energy. Everything is made up of mysterious entities, fluid-like substances that we call quantum fields. These invisible fields sometimes act like particles, sometimes like waves. Anything that is made of matter, as well as electromagnetic fields, are quantum fields.
Quantum fields carry energy and have both calculable and measurable effects on the light and matter within the Universe.
At the Sunset Healing Collective, our work taps into the most fundamental level of life and aims to create harmony, resonance, and restoration by activating the quantum fields and shifting the energy at its core.
This may sound “woo”, but in fact, it is based on the most current understanding in the scientific field of physics. This is why our work is effective; we tap into the most primal, energetic level to create a cascade of healing responses that are neurological, biological, psychological, and physiological in nature.
We value the individual, and their personal story and seek to offer holistic solutions that are personalized and unique to their needs.
Kristin Misik, licensed acupuncturist, nutritionist, yogi, and mother of two. She sits at the helm of the Sunset Healing Collective and is navigating its emergence in the Hudson Valley as a one-of-a-kind healing venue. Her vision is to build community and expand services, therapies, and practitioners so that anyone and everyone can get the care that they need on their own personal health journey. She has specialized in the treatment of chronic stress, mental health, pain management, fertility, and holistic beauty for over two decades.
Kristin has a knack for creating beautiful, healing spaces and the Sunset Healing Collective is no exception. From the moment you walk through the door, you are transported into a world unto its own: a babbling water fountain, the smell of copal or sandalwood or sage, a jungle of plants, contemplative art, and a restorative environment to carry you into a deeply healing experience. And if that isn’t enough, steps from her office sits the Millbrook Preserve. Begin or end your healing treatment with a stroll through the forest. The energy of this place is perfect for helping you find your center. Step inside to reconnect with yourself; step outside to reconnect with nature.
Building Community and Holistic Healing: Kristin Misik’s Journey from NYC to New Paltz
Being new to a community can be both exciting and challenging. Kristin Misik remembers very distinctly relocating from NYC to the Hudson Valley over 14 years ago. Excited to be closer to nature and have access to local farms and food, she also felt like a fish out of water without having any roots or friends. Kristin remembers her number-one mission at that time was to build friendships and community.
Fortunately for her, that was relatively easy to do in New Paltz as there were many young families seeking to build those same bonds. Facebook groups didn’t exist then; there was a website called Hudson Valley Parents with an event board where you could connect, but that was about it.
“My first local friend, Laura DeNey whom I met in pre-natal yoga, posted an invitation for expecting and new mothers to meet at The Bakery in New Paltz. That’s where I met my nearest and dearest friends who have become family. Without those early connections, my life in the Hudson Valley would have been missing the richness that it has had all these years. I am big on connecting and building community. Right now, I am channeling energy in that direction more than ever before.”
Kristin Misik is a NY state licensed acupuncturist, with 20 years of clinical experience, she began her practice in Hell’s Kitchen in 2003. In 2009, when she was expecting her first daughter, she made the jump to New Paltz, a town she knew little about.
“I love the energy of New Paltz…the proximity to the Gunks, being a small, college town, it’s a magnet for outdoor enthusiasts, and wonderful people, it’s got all of the right ingredients for me.”
Kristin was able to maintain her Manhattan acupuncture practice after moving to New Paltz, commuting twice weekly for 11 years, but slowly began building her New Paltz practice once her youngest daughter was school-age.
“I have been super lucky to keep my career going at a very manageable pace while raising my daughters. My Manhattan practice was on cruise control for many years and that allowed me to focus on my kids when I was home. It also gave me time to figure out a bigger vision for myself. I definitely had the best of both worlds, a thriving business and time to raise my girls.”
Now that Kristin’s daughters are older and more self-sufficient, she has shuttered her Manhattan practice and is rapidly expanding in New Paltz. She recently founded the Sunset Healing Collective in order to combine a variety of therapies she loves: acupuncture, sound baths, breathwork, yoga, reiki, Qi Gong, and the list continues to grow. She has an ambitious vision for the Sunset Healing Collective and is excited to see what manifests over the coming months.
The SHC opened in January of this year, and in just a few months, Kristin has seen a lot of growth and demand for things beyond acupuncture and cosmetic acupuncture, to include sound baths and one-on-one sound healings, breathwork, qi gong and reiki. Beginning in May, there will be a weekly yoga class by one of the most qualified Forest Yoga instructors between NYC and the Hudson Valley.
“Connecting and working in collaboration with all of these powerful healers, is an absolute honor and gift. As much as I love my work as an individual provider, the group work has been tremendously rewarding. We create a zen environment in our group work, qi gong, sound baths or breathwork, where everyone can find their center, relax and do some real healing.”
Kristin is continuing to expand the offerings of the Sunset Healing Collective and has big plans for the future. If you want to learn more, go to KristinMisik.com and subscribe to her newsletter. You can also follow her on IG @kmacupuncture & @sunsethealingcollective
