Today was a beautiful spring day in Beacon, NY, and I could feel the warmth of the sun on my skin as I strolled down Main Street in search of a delicious vegan lunch. This town is a hidden gem in the Hudson Valley, known for its thriving farm-to-table cuisine, picturesque hikes, and other activities that nourish both the mind and the soul.
A Taste of the Middle East at Ziatun Restaurant: Discover the Best Palestinian Cuisine in Beacon, NY – Restaurant Reviews with Photographer Maxwell Alexander – Presented by Alluvion Vacations
As a travel photographer and world explorer, I was excited to discover Ziatun Restaurant: Authentic Palestinian Cuisine, a Middle Eastern restaurant that promised to transport me to a flavorful adventure all over the Middle East. The restaurant's warm and inviting atmosphere immediately drew me in, and I knew I was in for a treat.
I started with the Futur Medley (V) assortment of their most popular appetizers, and my taste buds were immediately tantalized by eight amazing dishes. The house-made hummus was so smooth and creamy, it was like a warm embrace for my palate.
The baba ganoush was perfectly smoky and savory, and the foule had a wonderful depth of flavor. The za'atar and olive oil added a beautiful herbal note to the dish, while the falafel was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The pickled turnips were a tangy and refreshing surprise, and the warm pita bread was the perfect vehicle for scooping up every last bit of goodness.
Feeling adventurous, I decided to try the Falafel Burger (V), a unique and flavorful twist on the classic burger. The falafel patty was expertly seasoned, with a crispy exterior and a tender interior.
The house-pickled turnips and Persian pickles added a nice tangy crunch to the burger, while the creamy tahini brought a rich and nutty flavor to the dish. The vegan brioche bun from Beacon Bread Company was a revelation, soft and fluffy yet substantial enough to hold up to the flavorful fillings. And the fresh za'atar fries were the perfect accompaniment, with just the right amount of seasoning and crispiness.
As I savored every bite of my meal, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to explore such a wonderful town, filled with so many incredible culinary and outdoor experiences. I knew I would be back to Beacon soon, to continue my adventure and to discover more hidden gems like Ziatun Restaurant.
