Among the many things to do in the Hudson Valley, immersing oneself in its diverse culinary landscape remains a standout experience. One of such culinary sojourns, shared with my husband Dino, was to the esteemed Gunk Haus in Highland, NY. This restaurant, with its impressive menu filled with classic German and European dishes like schnitzel, Hungarian Goulash, and pretzels, embodies the heart and soul of German fare. Its location, cocooned by lush orchards, offers not just an epicurean delight but also a visual treat.
The Mojito: My chosen refreshment, the Mojito, was like sipping on distilled sunshine. The fresh mint leaves that adorned it added a fragrant aroma, invoking the very spirit of summer in every sip. It was a celebration of the season in a glass.
