Nestled in the heart of the East Village, just a block away from Astor Place, Marylou Bistro is a hidden gem that offers an elevated dining experience in a warm and cozy atmosphere. We decided to enjoy brunch outside on a beautiful day, and the restaurant’s pleasant ambiance perfectly complemented the exquisite dishes.

To start, we ordered a pitcher of their amazing mimosa, which was refreshing and perfectly balanced. Next, we tried the Shakshouka, a hearty dish that combined eggs, tomatoes, peppers, and spices. The eggs were poached to perfection, and the seasoning was spot on.

For our main dishes, I had the Croissant Benedict with ham, a creative twist on the classic breakfast dish. The dish was beautifully presented, with a flaky croissant, a perfectly poached egg, a slice of ham, and a smooth hollandaise sauce. Every element of the dish was executed flawlessly, and the flavors and textures worked together harmoniously.

My husband ordered the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese, but with a surprisingly sophisticated French twist. The sandwich was made with a perfectly cooked sunny-side-up egg, crispy bacon, and a generous slice of melted Comté cheese, all nestled between two slices of toasted brioche bread. The addition of the Comté cheese added a nutty, slightly sweet flavor that elevated the dish and gave it a subtle French twist and a side of French fries made the whole experience even more peculiarly French 🙂
