It was a rainy/foggy and even snowy (up in the mountains) day and I had to shoot a property in Napanoch, NY. Before I got to Catskills, I had to drive over the Gunks (Shawangunk Ridge) near Ellenville, and that was pretty intense because the rain switched to a snowstorm and a thick fog, so I was hardly navigating through the winding mountain roads.
Roundout Reservoir in the Catskill Mountains – Hiking Adventures with Photographer Maxwell Alexander – Nature Photography – Presented by Alluvion Vacations
After my photoshoot, I clicked on a different route (there are more than five ways to get around these mountains) and surprisingly enough bumped right into Rondout Reservoir that I'd never heard about before. I surely knew about Rondout Creek where I was rowing for almost a year, but nothing about the reservoir. I pulled up at the sign saying something about a fishing boat launch hoping that will definitely have access to the water and started walking down the narrow path down to the reservoir.
The weather started changing and at about that time I got to the water, the skies started to clear on one side, just enough to have a few rays of sun peek through and fill up the entire valley around the reservoir, and its crystal clear waters with a radiant glow. It was magical, for a short moment though, just like so many things about the Hudson Valley and Catskills. I've got a few cool shots while I was chilling there (while planning my next hiking adventure and a certain comeback 🙂
