From the moment we arrived, greeted by the effervescent sparkle of a chilled Prosecco, it was clear that the Urban Cowboy Lodge in the Catskill Mountains was not just a stay but an odyssey into the heart of authentic luxury and sustainable design. As an experiential designer and luxury hospitality photographer, I've seen my fair share of 'luxurious' settings, but nothing quite like this. Here, every detail was a narrative spun from the very essence of the environment, creating an experience that was not only immersive but resonant with the harmony of nature.

The lodge exudes a profound sense of place, carefully integrating rustic charm with sophisticated comfort. The lounge, adorned with antique pieces, tells stories of bygone eras, each item carefully curated to celebrate its heritage and craftsmanship. The air, subtly perfumed with smoky sage, invokes a tranquil, almost sacred ambiance that engages the senses in a delicate dance of the past and present.
The use of natural materials such as stone and wood throughout the lodge emphasizes their commitment to sustainability without compromising on elegance. Each room is a testament to thoughtful design, blending the outdoors with indoor luxury seamlessly.
One of the highlights for me, undoubtedly, was the chance to photograph the renowned bath culture of Urban Cowboy. The copper claw tubs, complete with antique faucets, not only served as a visual feast but also as a centerpiece of relaxation and indulgence.
Custom light fixtures and lamps scattered throughout the lodge caught my eye and my lens. These pieces, unique and beautifully crafted, not only illuminated spaces but also added character and depth, enhancing the lodge's magical atmosphere.
The day's adventures included my husband, Dino, participating in an exhilarating axe-throwing tournament, an experience that was both primal and exhilarating. Later, we unwound in the sauna and retreated to our private cedar hot tub on the balcony of our cabin, under a canopy of stars, a perfect end to a day steeped in adventure and relaxation.
The Urban Cowboy Lodge is more than just a place to stay; it is a sanctuary where every corner, every offering is an intimate discovery of luxury and sustainability. It stands as a beacon of how hospitality can go hand-in-hand with environmental consciousness and cultural richness.
