If you’re looking to escape the big city and find a relaxing weekend getaway, there are few places as idyllic as the Hudson Valley. Whether you want to go skiing in the winter or explore wineries in the summer, this vacation region has something to offer everyone all year round! As an Airbnb host myself, I’ve gotten pretty good at helping my guests find the perfect vacation home rental in the Hudson Valley, so I wanted to pass on some of my tips for finding that perfect vacation home rental below.

Where to look

If you’re looking for a getaway, there are many options available. Some of our favorites include Airbnb, VRBO, and HomeAway. By taking your pick from these platforms, you have access to millions of properties across the globe – many of which would be hard to come by otherwise. For example, we love booking through Airbnb when traveling because it gives us a chance to immerse ourselves in local culture while staying at an authentic apartment or home in the Hudson Valley and Catskills.

What’s more, you can even rent entire homes that range anywhere from 1-7 bedrooms (complete with hot tubs and pool tables). Sure beats a boring hotel any day! Also, check out nearby hotels in case someplace pops up that is just too good to pass up on—we found one last summer near Tannersville (where we spent time hiking!) that had everything we needed; including rustic cabins with fireplaces for only $60/night. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating as well! We really had no complaints about our stay whatsoever; even considering other hotels cost twice as much per night. So if you’re looking for unique accommodations, definitely consider checking out some nearby rental properties; especially if they can help give your trip personality!

What you should look for when booking

Your trip should be fun and enjoyable. If you aren’t having a good time, then your day will be ruined. Find a place that has all of your wants and needs so that you can enjoy yourself without worrying about anything else. It is also important to keep in mind how you want your vacation to look like. Do you want it to be laid back? Or do you want it busy? Are you planning to hit the hiking trails, or explore a nearby farmer's market? These are all important questions when looking for a place. Here are some things you should look for when trying to book a great place.

What you should expect from an Airbnb rental

Airbnb is a great way to save money when traveling and gain a greater sense of local culture by staying in actual homes instead of hotels. Before signing up for your first Airbnb stay, here are some things you should know about Airbnb homes: What’s included? Some Airbnb includes basic breakfast items like coffee, juice, and fruit. If you want anything extra (like cereal or eggs), make sure to let your host know ahead of time so he/she can be prepared. Do I need to bring my own towels/linens? Also, look into whether or not towels and linens will be provided during your trip. If not, remember that many laundry services offer same-day turnaround at low costs if something needs cleaning on short notice. Should I tip my host after my trip?

Bringing your dog on your next trip

Traveling with your pet can be a great way to bond, but it’s important that you have everything covered. Gather as much information as possible before you leave. Here are some tips for traveling with your dog. Before heading out on a trip, prepare your dog by practicing commands like sit and stay in distracting environments, so they’ll be prepared while you travel. Always remember to give them plenty of food and water on long drives; if at all possible, don’t overschedule them during long periods of driving or flight time. And make sure they wear their ID tags! Your veterinarian will provide these free of charge when you visit for regular checkups or vaccinations.

Accessibility

The Hudson Valley is a picturesque place with lots of great attractions, but it can also be difficult to get around. You should look for a house with at least two bedrooms, and make sure it has a master bedroom on an upper floor that’s accessible without stairs. If you have people who will be helping you take care of your parent, then those helpers will need accommodations too—so if your parent needs help getting up and downstairs, choose a house with an elevator if possible.

Conclusion

The Hudson Valley is a diverse region, with ample recreational activities, beautiful parks, and historic sites. To those who’ve grown up here, it might seem like an obvious choice for your next visit; however, many tourists are unaware of what makes our area so special. Our list covers some common attractions (like Woodbury Commons), but also features less-known spots that can offer a unique experience. Consider visiting during one of our many festivals (from food fairs to music festivals) or checking out one of these off-the-beaten-path places! When it comes to finding your ideal spot, search according to price range, amenities and size—it doesn’t matter if you have young children or elderly grandparents in tow: we have something for everyone. And once you book? Stay for as long as you want—Hudson Valley homeowners love sharing their local insights and favorite locations with guests from all over. You won’t be able to leave without making new memories!
