Curly hair influencer and hairstylist Felicia Michelle has made a name for herself as one of the top hair professionals in New York City. She began her career at Rossano Ferretti Salon when she was 15 years old, and later she worked as Anthony Dickey’s key assistant at Hair Rules. Today, she is making waves in the industry and on social media as one of the go-to experts for curly hair and ethnic hairstyling needs, from flat irons to blow dryers to curl enhancing products and more! Today Felicia is sharing her favorite hair care products from the Felicia Michelle Hair Brand and how she uses them on her clients.
Felicia’s Favorite Shampoo: Charcoal Detox and Exfoliate Shampoo
“This shampoo is formulated to give your hair a deep-down clean while also making it softer and more manageable. Many products can strip hair of its natural oils, but Charcoal Detox and Exfoliate Shampoo contain special ingredients that condition each strand without stripping your locks. This makes it ideal for both daily use and when you’re prepping for color or doing a professional treatment on your tresses. I find that it’s best to lather up twice with my fingertips—once at my scalp, then again at my ends.”
Felicia’s Favorite Conditioner: Intense Moisture Leave-in Conditioner
“As a curly-haired girl, I always look for products that can keep my curls looking defined without weighing them down. This Intense Moisture Conditioner is one of my favorite conditioners because it does just that! The advanced leave-in formula transforms dry, brittle hair with a restorative blend of moisturizers and extracts to maximum moisture. Adds shine, detangles, and makes hair more manageable. A unique infusion of Chia and Henna Seed Extracts helps resist breakage and promote healthy hair growth. Great for curls and extensions. Safe for colored, straightened, and chemically-treated hair.”
Felicia’s Favorite Product to Support Curls: Coils and Curls Cream Styler
In order to help clients understand how to properly care for their curls, Felicia has perfected a number of hair-styling tips. As you already know, she started with Anthony Dickey, who is known for his expertise in textured hair, and became one of his key assistants. When we asked her about her transition from assistant to hairstylist, she told me that it was difficult to master all of her client’s needs, so she continued on an extensive research quest where she discovered a few useful styling tips of her own: “The first step when creating any style is always curling definition; it provides both volume and shape by reducing frizziness. To define curls you have to start by prepping them with a cleansing conditioner that will remove excess dirt without stripping away essential oils. After your hair is clean, make sure to saturate each strand with a leave-in conditioner (or cream) before starting your styling regimen. If possible, let these products soak into your locks overnight or for several hours before doing anything else. A little bit goes a long way! Moisturizing once every day or twice every other day should be sufficient as too much can leave product buildup behind which leads to greasiness and flatness. After that, you can go on and use the Coils and Curls Cream Styler. This amplifying creamy gel defines and separates while adding volume, shine, and texture. Retains curl and reduces frizz for a radiant, touchable finish.
Felicia’s Favorite Finishing Hair Gloss
I’m a big fan of my Finishing Hair Gloss—it helps with frizz and absorbs excess oils. It tames my hair without making it look greasy, which I love. It also helps to smooth out tangles while sealing in some extra hydration to give your locks a softer feel. The smell is divine!
“There are plenty of natural hair care products out there, but many just don’t live up to what they promise. I want a product that really leaves my hair manageable and soft. Check out my favorite must-have hair care products at feliciamichellehair.com”
