As a travel and lifestyle photographer, I've had the pleasure of exploring places off the beaten path, immersing myself in local culture and, of course, trying the food! A recent adventure took my husband and me to a charming hamlet nestled in the Northern Catskills—Delhi, New York. The upstate landscape, known for its verdant rolling hills and picturesque views, offered a serene backdrop to our discovery of a culinary gem, the Blue Bee Cafe.
Delightful Delhi, NY: A Gourmet Journey at Blue Bee Cafe – Restaurant Reviews with Photographer Maxwell Alexander – Presented by Alluvion Vacations
Our stay at Alluvion Vacations farmhouse, a quaint Airbnb just a few minutes from Delhi, turned out to be a perfect choice. It positioned us in proximity to explore the natural beauty of the Oneonta/Delhi area and the mouthwatering flavors of local cuisine.
We spent our days exploring the hiking trails of Catskill Scenic Trail and Robert V. Riddell State Park, filling our lungs with the crisp mountain air. We marveled at the natural beauty of Goodyear Lake, a hidden gem known only to locals, capturing stunning visuals through our camera lens.
One sunny morning, our exploration led us to the welcoming doorstep of the Blue Bee Cafe. A family-owned and operated restaurant, this place is renowned for its freshly brewed coffee and tantalizing breakfast options.
Walking in, we were greeted by the rich aroma of freshly ground coffee. Bathed in the morning sunlight filtering through the window, a barista was performing the beautiful ballet of pouring milk into coffee, creating a mesmerizing spectacle of swirls and eddies. I could not resist capturing this artistic ritual with my camera.
We opted for their signature coffee—a rich, full-bodied brew that tasted like it had been kissed by the morning sun. Blueberry scone was a delightful complement. It was the perfect kick-start to our day.
Our breakfast at Blue Bee was a culinary roller coaster. We started with their cheesy quiche, studded with bits of smoky bacon. The cheese was delightfully gooey, the crust, was golden and flaky, and the bacon added a comforting smokiness that had us swooning.
Next came their crepes, a luscious harmony of goat cheese and fig spread. These delicate, thin pancakes, paired with a tart and sweet fig spread and the creamy tang of goat cheese, were nothing short of a flavor symphony.
The surprise element was a cup of soup that accompanied the breakfast—a soul-warming concoction that was rich, creamy, and satisfying. A side of fresh fruit salad provided the perfect palate cleanser, completing a well-rounded, wholesome breakfast experience.
In my journey as a photographer, I have found that the most memorable experiences often come from unexpected places. The Blue Bee Cafe, in the heart of Delhi, NY, is one such gem. It not only serves delectable food but also embodies the spirit of community and homely warmth.
I'd rate the Blue Bee Cafe as a solid 5 stars. It's the perfect place to refuel after a day of exploring the scenic beauty of upstate New York. The only downside, if there is one, is that it may spoil you for other breakfast places!
As for Delhi, NY—it's a treasure trove of natural beauty, perfect for hiking enthusiasts and photographers alike. Don't miss the chance to unwind at a local Airbnb like Alluvion Vacations Farmhouse, and be sure to make a pit stop at the Blue Bee Cafe. Your taste buds will thank you!
