5 Reasons You Need to Visit the Newburgh Waterfront

Located just about an hour north of NYC, Newburgh Waterfront is known to be one of the hottest culinary destinations in the Hudson Valley and Upstate, NY. It’s one of my favorite places to visit, especially with my friends from the city, when they come up to the Hudson Valley to enjoy all that it has to offer.

Here are five reasons you need to check out Newburgh Waterfront Restaurants for yourself!

#1: Beautiful views from this hidden gem
Just a few blocks from downtown, riverfront restaurants like The River Grill and Billy Joe’s Ribworks are offering some of the best-ever river views. Grab a table at one of these waterfront restaurants and you can see the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge and the city of Beacon on the other side of the Hudson River. It’s some of Hudson Valley’s most beautiful scenery. Plan your visit in advance though, as parking is limited in some spots and tables fill up fast.

#2: Delicious pizza and other Italian specialties
When you hear Italian food, most people think of spaghetti or some variation on lasagna. And yes, these dishes are delicious (let’s be honest), but there’s so much more out there! Take pizza for example: So often it’s just called pizza, when in fact it can have all sorts of toppings. There are varieties made with special sauces that aren’t even red—try Hawaiian pizza or a white pie! The Pizza Shop is a trendy yet affordable spot just up the stairs from the waterfront restaurants, plus it shares the building with Hudson Taco, which is a culinary destination on its own!

#3: Family-friendly atmosphere
Bringing kids with you is a great way to get them used to eat healthy, and a day out at the waterfront can be lots of fun. Think of a creative and afordable way to cross the river on a boat like Newburgh-Beacon ferry, and you’ve got a recipe for success! The waterfront views are gorgeous here, too – so make sure you don’t just eat. Enjoy your visit by taking in all that Hudson Valley beauty.

#4: Huge portions for an affordable price
The Newburgh waterfront is a mecca for foodies with gourmet restaurants offering creative and flavorful cuisine from around the world. Many visitors are staying at affordable Airbnb rentals in the area. But with so many great choices, it can be difficult to narrow down which restaurant you’ll go to for dinner each night.

#5: Friendly staff and great service
Though you may think of your server or host as a source of annoyance, in reality, they have one job: To make sure you have a good time and enjoy your experience. While Upstate, NY isn’t known for the best in class restaurant service (even the most expensive restaurants up the river in Kingston, NY rather come across as snobbish and unfriendly to say the least), but the closer you are to NYC, like Newburgh and Beacon, the better service you get.
