As the last rays of the sun disappeared, I found myself entranced by the mesmerizing beauty of Beacon Falls. Beacon, NY has always been a place of extraordinary allure and that evening was no different. Nestled across the street from the falls, a familiar beacon of its own – the Melzingah Tap House (known as the best bar in Beacon, NY) – beckoned me with its shimmering lights.

Upon entering, the atmosphere was immediately inviting, radiating a unique blend of modern rustic aesthetics. Brick walls, rustic wood finishes, and antique light fixtures created an ambience that felt like a warm embrace, transporting me into a world where contemporary chic met old-world charm.
The crowd was a symphony of lively conversations and laughter, their energy infecting the space with an undeniably jubilant spirit.
My evening kicked off with their top-listed cocktail, the Beacon Blossom – a harmonious fusion of jasmine-infused gin, fresh lime juice, simple syrup, and peach schnapps, all exquisitely topped with Prosecco. It tasted as if the spirit of spring had been captured in a glass. The jasmine provided an elegant floral note, while the lime juice lent a tart balance to the sweetness of the peach schnapps. The Prosecco crowned the cocktail with a bubbly finish, making it a refreshing companion to kick-start the culinary journey.
Next came the Mussels & Sausage, a masterful blend of succulent mussels, leek sausage, garlic, shallots, all bathed in white wine and butter, accompanied by a toasted baguette. Every element told a story; the mussels were a taste of the sea, while the leek sausage added a hearty, smoky undertone.
The white wine and butter broth married the diverse flavors, creating a harmony that was both rich and refined. The toasted baguette, the ideal companion, served to mop up the exquisite flavors.
For the main course, I opted for the Impossible Burger™. This vegan delight, a testament to Melzingah’s commitment to planet-friendly cuisine, was nothing short of a revelation. The patty was substantial and flavorful, while the traditional hummus spread added a creamy, earthy dimension.
Lettuce, tomato, and onion contributed freshness and crunch, all encased in a soft vegan roll. Paired with house-cut fries, this was a vegan dish that lacked nothing in taste or satisfaction.
As a delightful conclusion, I chose the Blackberry Falls, a dessert drink that was as charming as the place itself. Freshly squeezed lemonade mixed with Tito’s vodka and creme de mure created a perfect blend of tart, sweet, and smooth flavors. It was like sipping on a distilled sunset, a fitting end to a truly magical evening.
Melzingah Tap House is more than just a restaurant; it’s truly is a beacon of flavors, a celebration of the fusion of culture, comfort, creativity, and deep respect for our planet. Each dish, and each drink, is a testament to their commitment to offering a dining experience that not only satisfies the palate but also stays true to the ethos of sustainability.
