The Magic of Spring

After a busy day in the office (processing endless photoshoots from a week before), on one of those spring days that manages to feel both crisp and warm, I decided to escape the misery of the blue screen and headed to Bowdoin Park, a beautifully designed nature sanctuary with spectacular Hudson River views. What really made me smile was realizing that I'd get to spend my afternoon photographing something that many don't get to see very often: nature's awakening, leaf buds, and wildflowers. There's no doubt in my mind that April showers bring May flowers, but it wasn't until going out for a shoot like this that I realized just how much beauty these blooms can add to an otherwise average day. If you've never gotten down on your hands and knees to take photographs from undergrowth before, I hope you'll give it a try!

Don't forget to Smell the Roses

Having a walk on a cool spring afternoon surrounded by nature’s beauty is not only rejuvenating but can also spark new ideas for your creativity. If you are feeling stuck, emotionally, creatively, professionally, or otherwise, take advantage of that time and take a break instead of forcing it. Go for a brisk walk outside and revel in Mother Nature’s glorious display of color and fragrance. When you’re feeling especially inspired, pick up your camera or cell phone and snap some shots that capture that springtime is here! Consider sharing these photos on Instagram or other social media outlets—you might make some new friends who share your passion for photography, instead of the negative news that algorithms are filling up your newsfeed.
