Inside the Ultimate Modern Rustic Catskill Mountains Farmhouse Retreat in Saugerties – Airbnb Reviews

Early spring in the Catskills brings a particular kind of clarity — the landscape still quiet from winter, but light already changing, stretching longer across fields and ridgelines. In Saugerties, where creative energy has long coexisted with agricultural heritage, a new generation of design-forward escapes is redefining how Hudson Valley residents and travelers experience […]

Sip Into Spring with the “Peach Please!” Mimosa – A Boozy Love Letter to the Hudson Valley

Some cocktails are made for sipping. Others are made for storytelling. This one? Well, honey, this one demands a dramatic entrance, a perfectly timed RuPaul’s Drag Race reveal, and maybe a slow-motion run through a field of wildflowers while Stevie Nicks twirls in the background. Sip Into Spring with the “Peach Please!” Mimosa – […]

Snowberry Bliss: A Dashing Winter Cocktail Adventure in the Catskills

There’s something utterly magical about winter in the Catskill Mountains—especially when you’re sipping something fabulous inside a glass-walled luxury villa, perched atop a snow-dusted peak. As the snowflakes pirouetted outside and the fireplace crackled with enviable enthusiasm, I did what any self-respecting mixologist (who also happens to be a bodybuilding and sports nutrition coach) […]

New York Roots After the Snowstorm: Public Art, Steel, and the City That Keeps Rewriting the Future

A foot of snow changes the tone. Manhattan slows, sharpness gives way to hush, and suddenly the city remembers its own beauty. New York Roots emerged from the white like a body refusing to stay hidden—muscular, deliberate, reaching skyward with the confidence of something built to last. New York Roots After the Snowstorm: Public […]

Sagebrush Buckaroo: Gay Cowboy Mixology in the Catskills, Late January

Late January in the Catskill Mountains favors clarity. The noise fades, the temperature drops, and pretense struggles to survive. Roxbury Haus meets the season properly: clean lines, disciplined warmth, and a bar that rewards competence. The Cocky Cowboy—my fine-art character—commands the bar with composed authority, proving that real power moves quietly. Sagebrush Buckaroo: Gay […]

Little Loaf Bakeshop: Queer, Glorious, and Carb-Blessed in New Paltz

I arrived in New Paltz hungry, under-caffeinated, and emotionally prepared for greatness. Little Loaf Bakeshop delivered with precision and personality. This place operates as a queer landmark disguised as a bakery, and as a roaming Hudson Valley queer artist with opinions, I felt immediately seen. Little Loaf Bakeshop: Queer, Glorious, and Carb-Blessed in New […]

The Hudson Valley has always been queer territory — it just took the rest of the world a while to catch up.

Hudson Valley Style Magazine is the fine art photography/editorial project of queer artist-activist and visual storyteller Maxwell Alexander — the creative force behind the Cocky Cowboy, a composed queer masculine alter ego whose adventures across river retreats, mountain light, and the artsy queer towns upstate New York does so well have shaped the visual language of gay travel above the city. This is the archive. Every cabin review, trail dispatch, and cultural feature here is filtered through a gay gaze that finds the political in the pastoral and beauty in the landscape.

LGBTQ+ travel in the Northeast found its spiritual home somewhere between the Catskill Mountains and the Hudson River. Gay-friendly vacation rentals, gay-owned Airbnb Hudson Valley properties, and queer-friendly glamping in the Catskills have transformed upstate New York from a pastoral afterthought into one of the most compelling eco-queer travel destinations in the country. Queer upstate hikes through old-growth forest, Catskills Pride ski weekends, and chosen family getaways in the Catskills draw travelers who want their wilderness with a side of liberation. The Hudson Valley Pride season anchors June, but the queer Hudson NY guide runs year-round — from the galleries and drag brunches of Newburgh’s waterfront to Pride in the Sky on the Walkway Over the Hudson to queer honky tonk upstate nights that nobody is writing about yet but should be.

Wellness travel here means something specific. LGBTQ+ wellness retreats upstate, queer farm-to-table experiences rooted in Hudson Valley agriculture, and safe space travel across upstate NY have built an infrastructure of belonging that the region never had to advertise but absolutely earned. Big gay Hudson Valley energy is real, it’s grounded, and through the lens of Maxwell Alexander and the spirit of the Cocky Cowboy, it has never looked better.
