Hello fabulous Hudson Valley Style Mixology enthusiasts! This Pride season, I’m excited to share a new cocktail creation inspired by my recent visit to Tartinery at Grand Central. The restaurant’s seasonal watermelon spritzer was a delightful surprise, and it sparked the idea for a vibrant, pride-themed cocktail that’s sure to be a hit at your next celebration. Introducing the Gaytastic Watermelon Spritzer—a cocktail as colorful and delightful as our community!
Gaytastic Watermelon Spritzer: A Refreshing Twist for Our Mixology Fans this Pride Season – Hudson Valley Style Mixology with Maxwell Alexander – LGBTQ+ Travel – Presented by Alluvion Vacations
Ingredients:
- 2 cups fresh watermelon juice (blend and strain to remove pulp)
- 1/2 cup vodka (or gin for a botanical twist)
- 1/4 cup elderflower liqueur (for that floral finesse)
- 1/4 cup fresh lime juice (about 2 limes)
- 1 tablespoon simple syrup (adjust to taste)
- Club soda (to top off)
- Ice cubes
- Watermelon slices and mint sprigs for garnish
Instructions:
- Prep the Watermelon Juice:
- Start with a fresh, ripe watermelon. Cut it into chunks, blend it until smooth, and strain the juice through a fine mesh sieve to get a pure, vibrant watermelon juice.
- Mix the Base:
- In a large pitcher, combine the fresh watermelon juice, vodka, elderflower liqueur, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup. Stir well to mix all the flavors together.
- Chill:
- Add a handful of ice cubes to the pitcher to chill the mixture. You can also refrigerate it for about 30 minutes if you prefer a colder drink.
- Serve:
- Fill each glass halfway with ice cubes. Pour the watermelon mix into the glass, filling it about two-thirds full.
- Top Off with Bubbles:
- Top off each glass with club soda to add that fizzy, spritzy goodness.
- Garnish and Enjoy:
- Garnish with a slice of watermelon and a sprig of mint for that extra pop of color and freshness.
